Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Restaurant Manager collaborates closely with the General Manager and the entire team to foster a profitable and high-quality restaurant environment. The key responsibilities include managing costs, overseeing labor, recruiting and training staff, and ensuring adherence to company policies. This role demands reliability, self-reliance, exceptional guest hospitality, and effective coaching abilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and prioritization skills, coupled with a focused, team-oriented mindset, to deliver memorable experiences for all guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, coach, and discipline staff while earning their respect.
  • Conduct interviews, hire new employees, issue warnings, provide counseling, and terminate employees as needed, ensuring proper documentation and coordination with the General Manager.
  • Oversee the development of assistant management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism under stress and during high-volume periods.
  • Uphold company standards and expectations.
  • Address issues of discrimination or harassment promptly, contacting the General Manager when necessary.
  • Foster a respectful, intimidation-free workplace.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, Managers, and team members to drive sales.
  • Understand and manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, assisting in cost control.
  • Assist with ordering and inventory management.
  • Manage scheduling, training, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Ensure uniform standards are maintained across departments.
  • Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of the restaurant.
  • Enforce safety and sanitary practices, ensuring regulatory compliance in the kitchen area.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with the law.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee files as required by state law.
  • Report directly to the General Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong task management skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to follow multi-step instructions and adapt to changing situations.
  • Proficiency in mathematical computations for cash handling.
  • Understanding of P&Ls, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Completion of required training and compliance with local and state regulations for food and alcohol service.
  • Maintains a consistently professional appearance, with specific details discussed during hiring.
  • Must acquire and maintain any required licenses, certificates, or permits.
